Exclamation Cheap homemade lanyard for you fly fishers

I use a lightweight nylon fanny pack mostly because its too hot here for my shorty vest (and I hate toting a tackle box everywhere) but a lanyard is another portable option to hold your nippers, hemostat (foreceps), flybox, tippet, hook hone, zinger or retractor, and other gear. One downside to a lanyard is that it can be noisy. Click on link below .

A word of caution about using the plastic lace, it might be fine in some hot weather conditions but it might also melt in really hot weather so I would substitute it for a small nylon cord as I've heard some folks use for a lanyard.

    Thumbs up Thank You Dixieangler

Thanks for the link. I think that would be a good material for a dedicated lanyard on my Fish Cat#4 float tube. I have used the cord materials before but somehow end up with a tiny hook imbedded in it. The small retractors/zingers I have tried seem to be of poor quality also. ) Thanks again, Mike

    Hey Mike,

The plastic lace might be better for you than the nylon cord if you have hooks snagging lanyard material like nylon (a drawback to nylon) but if the beads are tightly packed on the nylon cord (no gaps), the chances of a hook working its way between the tightly packed beads should be pretty slim. The plastic lace might be a better way to go for you if the weather is not so hot that it melts the plastic. Best of luck.
