Talquin?

Any one tried any type of crappie fishing on Talquin lately?

They were not very active as of last Monday.
Big Blue Gill catch going on, probably better now.

If the blue gill are anything like the crappie size wise, that would be some awesome fishing on light tackle. The crappie bite seems to be declining on Talquin. Not sure if it's from the fishing pressure or if it's just a cycle that the lake is going through?

I saw a couple of people catch limit of Crappie last week of June @Talquin.
I am going to attempt to post pics of Bream caught July 9.

Very nice catch. It should be a law that you have to put brim on a stringer. They look 10 times better to me like that. I guess because that's how i grew up. Were the guys that caught the limit of crappie trolling, casting, or tightlining? Also, how deep of water and what area of the lake were they in? Would love to get on some, but hate to go without hearing details. Again, nice catch!!

Years ago my grandfather used to have a house on lake Talquin. He had a neat boathouse where one would just walk into it and there sitting in the water were the two jon boats floating in their slips. Had rope clips that clipped onto the boats running straight up to pulleys in the rafters then across to the walls and down with weights on them, thus holding the boats stable in their place. We'd just get in the boat and unclip, push out and go fishing. It was a paradise for for me. Alas, he sold the place (years ago) and himself passed on. I never forget that place, everytime someone posts a thread about Talquin it brings back those memories.

Where about did you catch them brimfs? On crikets? Red wigglers, or artificial?

Those 2 people with the fish were from Dothan, AL. I don't think that they were fisherman with any secrets.
They were at Talquin Lodge for the entire week of the 4th of July.
We arrived on the 6th to fish for Crappie, they had already caught limits of Shellcracker and Bream. We were hard headed and kept fishing for the Crappie for two days with little success.
Needless to say, we bought crickets, hooks and corks after seeing some of their catches. We had reasonble success, but nothing like theirs.
These fish were strung for the picture. I agree with Chappy, "all Brim should be put on a string".
Fish were caught on Little River flats in 4 to 5 ft. deep water. Crickets were the bait.
