Question about Hi-Tek rod holders

Hey guys,
I am considering buying a couple of the Hi-Tek rod holders but notice that they come in two grades. They have the Elite and they have the Extreme versions. I don't exactly understand the difference between the two holders. There is not much difference in the price between the two models.

Can anyone explain the difference between the two models?

Which model would you recommend and why?

I know he started making some with higher sides for pullin cranks. If thats the case get them, I lost a rod last year with the old ones.

Wilbur offers good advice--match the holder to your rods and fishing style. I use the simplest, old-fashioned angle poles (B&M's "Skeeter Pole") to drift corks & "original recipe" works better for me than the ones with higher sides. The older style holds the rod straight, or you can prop it in there cock-eyed to the left or right. These minor adjustments in position help separate the lines to prevent tangling.

The Extreme V has a deeper V and is mostly used for pulling crankbaits but some people also prefer them for pulling jigs. Myself, I use the Elite V pulling jigs. If only vertical fishing, the Elite V is the way to go. The Elite V allows you to set the hook up as well to the either side if needed.

Yes get the deep V if you plan on pullin cranks. I modified the originals.

The deeper "V" is the differnce. You won't be disappointed in Hi-Teks. If you drill and tap a set screw in the rod holder to mounting plate, insurance on holding in place for extreme pulling.

Yes, the whole thing will pivot at the top of the riser.
