I bought a Berkley lighting rod 5'6" and it works great. I've also used the Berkley Cherry rods and the BnM Sharp Shooters and both worked great too!
I need a new shooter pole. What pole do you have that works the best for you. I was thinking 5'6" or 6' medium lite action one piece rod. I guess price matters, nothin over $40. I bought a shimano 5' 6" ultra light last year ($30) and I hated it. It's for sale.now.if interested. I would take $10 for it.

Only crappie rods I have ever used is BPS Micro lites. The 5 ' 6" lite action works good for shooting docks
I used the 6'6" berkeley cherrywood in a medium light. Have to order them from berkeley special, nobody carries the medium light.
I use a Shakespear UL 5' from wally world, works good imo. also have a bill dance UL from bps that works good, it was ~$40 on sale this past summer

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.
When you guys talk shooting rods are you saying that you'r bending the end over and (slingshot) shooting the dock or just casting/picthing with these rods.. I was with a guy this weekend that was pretty dang good at it.. He caught 4 to my 1 getting under those docks....He was using a B&M sharp shooter... I got a buch of ugly sticks i been trying before i spend the cash for somthing else....
Charley41 yes the good ol slingshot technique is pretty deadly this time of year. How much does a b&m sharp shooter cost?
bout $50 I think, + or -.
