Catch one eyed fish all the time. They heal and go about their life.
Is it just me, or do alot of you guys jigging for crappie impale them through the eye upon hookset? If I'm keeping them, no big deal. But if I am trying to get my slot fish or throwing back small fish, I've thrown back a fair number with a hole in their eye. I wonder how well they do after that?

have seen a lot of big bass with 1 bad eye but not many crop
I'm sure it's probably happened at some time or another, but I don't remember a hookset through the eye. I use sickle hooks and 99% of the time it's is right in the roof of the mouth, hooked up solid.

Bass and bluegill, but not real often on crappie.
The best way to get to where you want to be in the future is to act like you are there TODAY.
Crappie will have lips missing but I have not caught any with bad eyes.

Seems like about every trip out I have this happen on a fish.
I thought I got lucky and slipped up on them on their blind side!!!!!!!
