    Default Welcome!

Digital Photography has exploded in all directions since it became available in the early 1990s. Equipment costs, size, and weight have plunged. At the same time, image quality, camera features, and storage capacity have skyrocketed. Anyone can afford a digital camera today, but most owners don't get maximum value out of their cameras because they don't understand or use many of the camera's features. Perhaps, the greatest feature of digital over film cameras is the ability to post digital image files online and share them with others--especially when those images include large crappies, a fiery sunset, the smile on face of a child who just caught his or her first fish, or countless other subjects of interest to fishermen.

In this forum we will discuss anything and everything related to digital photography, including:
    - How to pick the right camera with the right features and the right price
    - How to pick a good memory card for your camera
    - Which add-ons and accessories are worth their cost
    - Cameras with GPS capability
    - Cameras embedded in other devices, such as cell phones
    - How to take good outdoor pictures in all kinds of weather
    - When to move your boat to get a better picture
    - How to make fish look twice as big as they really are :-)
    - How to transfer images from your camera to your computer
    - How to edit digital images (to keep them guessing where you caught the big ones)
    - How to transfer images from your computer to the internet
    - How to include pictures in your Crappie.com posts
    - Entering Crappie.com photo contests
    - Shooting and posting movie clips
    - Underwater photography
    - Self images (where to hold the fish and when to smile)
    - How (and when) to present digital slide shows on your TV
    - Printing images at home and using commercial services
    - Share your photography tips and tricks with fellow fishermen
    - More, more, more!

For starters, who just got a new digital camera?

I bought a Fujifilm XP this spring, it's water, shock, dust and freeze proof. My old Kodak took too many shots. Haven't really got the hang of it yet. Seems most electronics today don't have very good manuals. They think everyone was raised in the 21st century.

Richard, I have the camera that you recommended and it has surely been a good one. However, I would really like to know about a camera with GPS.

I could see that being useful when the lakes are low. You could take a snapshot of cover that would be normally under water and have a waypoint that could be transferred to your Sounder..

That's for sure--and I'll add the "manual" for my new Garmin GPSMap 78 to the list. Maybe we can pool enough C.c experiences and knowledge to fill in some of the gaps left by the camera manuals.

Why not take a picture with your gps enabled smart phones and it will put it on the map auto for you. As a waypoint?
