    Default Rod Holder Placement Suggestions

Any opinions on whether I should place the pole base on my deck or gunwale, plan on one on left and right. Also what would you say is the best angle as far as facing front of bow. Pic is not my boat (Too Lazy to pull cover off and take pic) but pretty much the same and trolling motor in the same position. Also included are the holders I plan to buy, suggested by Mr. Earl Kitchens so I know they are right for the job. PS: My rails are a bit wider than the ones in the pic so width would not be a problem. THANKS

I dont want to take away from your decision on the holder but you are gonna want something that will swivel as far as the T-bar. I would mount the bases of whatever you get on the deck and not on the gunnel. The gunnel will show the holes if you remove where they wont be as noticable in the carpet on the deck.

    Default 2X on Hi-teks

Can't say enough about them, but like others I'd go for the deck before the gunwhale.

I do not mean to steal a thread but instead of starting another one similar to this I thought it would be better to extend this one. It might be helpful to both of us. Yankee doodler can you show a pic of how your bases are mounted at the deck. I just received my two hiteks and want to put them on the front. I have double front seats also. Did you mount them parallel or longways. I thought about parallel and just swiveling the t-bar, but then I thought longways might take up less space. I am not sure how far in front of the seats to mount them though.

Here's a link to my Photobucket album of boat pics. Some of them are not relevant anymore, but take a gander. Hope it answers your questions.

You need then in front of your seats where you can easily grab your poles without a lot of leaning or stretching to reach them.....if not your going to miss a lot of fish.
