    Default Elite 4DSI & structure

Now I know why Im off structure that I mark with a floating marker in deeper water.

Normally I would see it (brush...stakes, ect) and throw out a marker. Work my way back up wind and fish. My bow 2D would show nothing as far as structure. I would search around and it would be of the left or right.

While checking this bridge it came to me that the angle was much wider than I thought. Just past 10 fow I picked up the pillar and was 3-4ft away from it as I went past.

Just thought the ones that are just starting out on the DSI like me would find it helpful. The slow boat speed also gave me more of a line than dot for the fish.

So,the way I am reading this graff, the 455KHz gives better coverage than 800.Total,down and side.

No doubt SI will let you know where the odject is weather on right or left or not got to it yet,I have a SI,but I have been using a 2 d since they came out and a long time ago found out if you tilt TM tranducer a little to front you could tell which side the brush was on and also when you first see brush in 15 -20 feet you could make a short cast in that direction and let it drop for it is just in front of you ,and as far as buoy goes, I go into wind if possible and just as soon as brush goes off 2d ,Then throw out marker and turn around and cast into wind toward the buoy, as I am sure most of you do, but hope it will help any who do not

Below are the numbers I have for the Lowrance DSI (so..yes... The 455kHz beam is wider than the 800kHz)

    DSI @ -10db
    455 kHz: approximately 70⁰ (side-to-side)
    800 kHz: approximately 50⁰ (side-to-side)
