I bought myself some of the Johnson Beetle Spin lure and went out fishing for crappies with them and I came up with nothing. What is the best way to fish with them?

1. To spin them with the tail
2. Jig them with the tail
3. Jig them without the tail
4. Suspend them with a bobber.

Any advice will be very helpful.

I normally just cast them out and real them in at a speed where the blade barely spin. Use a slow reteive. Normally I use them during the pre-spawn right when the crappie start moving shallow.

You should either cast them or troll behind a boat. Depth makes a big difference. Speed of retrieve ,weight of bait and line size all make a difference on getting proper depth. You may even need to count down bait while casting if fish are deep. Good luck NC

I have used Beetle spins and Roadrunners from time to time. For me the best results have been when I fish the slow. I also use the count down method to get them in deeper water. I will also change the tails on them and use my favorite colors. Good luck...

SLOOOOWWW. Just when you think you have it right, slow some more!

You have just named my number 1 crappie finder. Once it does it's magic, I set up on em!

For me it is not as effective in the summer as the fall and winter, but that may just be me. I know it is a deadly thing in the colder months!
