Been thinking about getting one and would like some opinions on it if you have used one. This is the model I'm looking at.

They are useless, unless your in clear water. Waters around where I fish are always stained, or murky, a buddy of mine had one, and you could see a couple feet out, and thats about it.

I have the Cabelas version in 7" and they are fine if you have very clear water. Depending on how you use it (ice, boat) consider a clamp of some sort to prevent camera spin from the cable.

Seems like the problem may not be the product but rather the (pond) water. Up nort' here, some lakes are pretty clear so a camera like this would make more sense - for ice fishing especially since you are not moving around as much as in a boat. Something about...the right tool for the right job, I guess.

might be better off getting a DI unit for just a few bucks more, they work no matter what the water looks like.

I bought a Marcum VS620 last Winter for ice fishing and we had no ice so I'm still waiting to use it!:biggrin I might give it a try on the next calm day and see how it works in open water...105944

Some of the new fancy ones can see pretty decent even in water that is a little dirty but i wouldnt buy one unless its for ice fishing. Lots of people have them up here to use through the ice where you are just watching your jig the whole time and not moving around but i havent seen anybody trying them out in open water at all.
