It is getting that time of the year to start trimming the big motor down after loading out and drain the water out..... I used to weld up 2 or 3 cracked lower units each year when I was in the business from a little water being in there and freezing up.......:

Great advise Monty!!! Its also courteous, when taking out, to let the water drain from your boat and motor at the waters edge so you don't pour an ice path up the boat ramp for the next person. As long as you are not blocking someone else from using the ramp of course.
