Nice slabs! were u in a boat or on the bank?
Hello to all. I have been following the site for some time, and very impressed with the reports, tips, and fellowship on this site.
Lately, I have been fishing Riverside Landing, Limestone Bay, and Cotaco Creek. Until recently, I have been catching primarily white crappie in Cotaco Creek. Today, it was all Black Crappie.
Jigs have worked well in Limestone Bay and Riverside - primarily, Bobby Garland monkey milk and blue ice. In Cotaco Creek, I can't pay a fish to take a jig. Minnows have worked well.
I hope the pictures show. Today was a good day for size. The big one is 17.25 inches. I don't know the weight.

Nice fish!!!!!!!! never had much luck there my self.
I was in a boat. I launched from Triana around 0545. Best bite for me seems to be between sunrise and 0830-0900. Athough, I did surprisingly catch a few around noon. I started south of the Cotaco Creek boat launch fishing laydowns and worked my way back to the river.
I can see how you got your handle, you're showing pictures of fish that you caught in the future (Oct 29th)
Nice Crappie, but there ain't nothing in Cotaco Creek except Gar and Carp
Thanks for the report. I've done well on jigs in there before but later in the year.
Bob D. I see you are from Madison. I am also. Regarding Cotaco and jigs...I tend to donate many jigs to the structure, but keep trying. Just part of the fun!
The big one should weigh over 2 and half pounds since it is over 17 inches and if you had caught it in late Feb or in March it would easily have been over 3 lbs.
Nice fish! Welcome to the forum.

nice dang feesh, jmo but i think a healthy speck in the 17" range should be over 3lbs. What body of water are you fishing? the areas you mentioned are not familiar with me as i am in Ms and don't travel into Al much except on the waterway.
