;) I have found the neatest thing to keep those biting bugs, off you legs & feet while fishing. I have always used these while working in the yard around my arms so I thought I would take them in the boat, I have trouble with those biting flies, I took them with me and put them around my ankles and they WORK, now that I got your attention, these little miracles are the DEEP WOODS OFF GREEN BRACELETS. You can buy them in the sporting goods area of your favorite store. (ONE SIZE FITS MOST), I got them wet and they still work. If you try them I think you will like them.

My husband Slabbandit laughs at me for wearing them on my ankles, but who cares as long as those biting flies dont bite me, he can fight with them. Oh by the way maybe thats why I might be catching a little more fish than him, (from the back of the boat) :D , is because I'm not fighting the bugs like he is.
Try them you just might like them. ;)

Thanks for the tip I will buy some and let the wife give em a try. If it works on Nimrod fly's surely it will work in the Ouachita variety.

The few times I fished in Minnisota I found that the flies liked being down in the boat (out of the wind I think) around my white socks and would bite me on the ankles through my socks. Once I started putting the second pair of socks on the flies no longer bothered me by biting my ankles.

D*** you ain't right...I guess you might as well have fun with it crying about it ain't going change it .... I had a 5th grade school teacher that lost his leg right below the knee in motorcycle accident... he would paint his leg for the season... red white and blue with stars for July 4th .. Christmas scenes ... even painted it Petty Blue with a big 43 for the Daytona 500... the 1st day of school he always would play a joke on the new teachers putting his leg on backwards and holler he was having a cramp...scared them teachers to death and then they wanted to kill him after they found out it was a joke... he is a great guy I still talk to him on ocassion.. hang on in there josh

Made me remember with fondness an old friend that used to go tubing with us down the Mayodan river. He was also an amputee. To go tubing, he always wore his old wooden prothetic leg. The high dollar molded one wouldn't float. One day the leather straps that held it on came loose in the rapids and away that bad boy went, with my friend hollering down the river at some girl.... "Hey lady grab my leg!"
If I remember right, we found it about a mile downstream stuck on a rock.

He was a nut that enjoyed life too :)
