    Default Ranger 370V

What's the V stand for. Found a 81 (they think 84) with a 175 mercury black max. In good shape. Couldn't find any soft spots on deck or flex around transom. How. Do they ride? Fish from (spider riging)). For give my ignorance I don't know rangers at all, use to alum trackers. They asking 2500. Any help is appreciated.

If in good shape that is a fine fishing platform. I fish a 91 354V. Not sure what the V stands for either. They do set up very nicely for spider rigging as that is what I do. It will ride much nicer than the tracker did--and handles the wind and chop wonderfully. Good Luck

Thanks for the help. Is it worth the price if the motor is ok?

I would say so--even if you have to put some money into it--you might not get that money back but if you like it then your way ahead IMO.

If it is really a 81 it is one of the first V hull high-performance bass boats. As said very good ride, very stable and pretty quick with the 175 on it. If motor has good compression and hull is solid it is well worth the money, especially for a crappie boat. On that merc I'd expect if nothing has ever been done to it that you might need carb rebuild, water pump, and maybe some electrical components in charging and ignition systems. Wheel bearings in trailer and maybe lights. Add those things up and price you would pay still got a really nice boat at good price.

Be sure to check compression on that motor, needs to be above 110 per cylinder and no more than 5 pounds either way, up or down, difference on all cylinders. Fro example if number one checks 110 they all need to be from 105 to 115 and that is giving a good bit of lead way. 110 is just an example, not sure what it should be but as long as they are all close and around 110 you should be good. I have an 82 200 Merc and all 6 are from 124 to 126 PSI. Good luck, tuned rite that Merc will fly.
