Default Recommendations on a new food saver/vacuum sealer

My old food saver has finally given up the ghost after several years. Has anyone had any recent experiences with a brand of food saver to purchase....or stay away from ?

    Thanks for any advice.

When mine died after 10 years of heavy use I bought another one, I think they're that good. Bought another one at the good will store for 5 bucks and I use that one for vacumn packing fresh feathers to kill off any bugs or jigs that I don't want to oxidize. If you use it for that you need to put the hook points into the end of a piece of cardboard then seal away.

Food saver brand. I just replaced my old one after 10 years( still works, but not as strong as once was ). Got the new upright model and it is great.

Ditto on the Food Saver, but before buying mine (not handy and I can't recall the Model Number) I got on Amazon and read the reviews to see which would be a good one to get (though I didn't buy an expensive one), even though I bought mine local.

I had mine about 10 years and it quit, I called them( food saver) and asked about getting it repaired, they said it was non repairable, so I took it apart to see what had happened to it, and I found the problem and fixed mine, been over 2 years ago and its still working like new, Found another one at a yard sale just like mine, now I got 2 of them.

A tip for food saving fish is to put ice cubes in the bag before removing the air then let it sit in the fridge. The ice melts covering the fish.

There are tons of coupons for Food Saver products. I got mine about a year ago and with my coupon got a whole bunch of extra rolls & accessories (that I don't use). Also, you can get cheap bags & rolls on ebay.
