Everyones Favorite Crappie Jigs

Want ti give it a try & see how I like it. What is everyones favorites & how to rig. Any colors & what weight most everyone uses would be helpful too. Will pretty much be fishing Green & Cumberland. Thanks

This time of the year, up here, we fish 2" plastics alot, behind 1/16 oz. ball head jigs. BG Baby Shads are one of my favorites. Had our first 25 degree morning today! As it gets colder (sustained cold), we'll shift to marabou jigs, under floats. Color is a day-by-day situation. You just have to try several, until you strike their fancy.

I double 1/16 with Hot Grubs or AWDs and longline.

What is everyones favorites

My dad's hand-tied jigs. I'm obviously biased, but they are the best I've ever seen.

Solid chartreuse and solid white are my two favorite colors.

I like 1/8 oz roadrunners with lake fork tackle live baby shad bodies. I've had good luck with their blue pearl, hot lips, and electric chicken colors.

I like my own jigs and soft plastics I make especially the Shad stinger.. Anything with chartreuse is good.

I use my home made 1/32 oz. flat head jig with neck hackle just behind the head. Then put on a Berkley Gulp Alive one inch minnow behind that. Colors are all the basic ones, depends on the day. Steve

Been having good luck lately with a Bobby Garland plastic body, kind of pearl/white color with a long swimming tail. I put it on a white ball jighead 1/4 ounce. Been good for both crappie and largemouth. I've had luck also with jigs that have 3 colors, example red jighead, plastic body with green and yellow. Also black and yellow beetle spins at times work very well. You pretty much can't beat a Roadrunner in rivers. Crappie Sliders work great around docks/marinas for BIG crappie. In general it's always good to have some chartreuse on a jig. Crappie can simply see the chartreuse better against a brown/turbid waer background color. If you're fishing in and around weeds/algae you should try red/orange/pink as the crappie see those colors better against a green background.

My favorites have to go a bit by season. Spring my favorite is a Raodrunner 1/32 marabou and I especially like long line trolling. Just before that it even it overlaps some while the water is still cool I also like a 1/16 kip tail jig. If casting I still like the Raodrunners, but also will use and like a 1/16th jig with hackle tail. My favorite colors depend on the water clarity and first Teldo Bend starts out stained and I like Chart/Blue/Chart best, but as soon as I can see this jig about 3' deep I will go to a Silver/Blue/White or a Silver/Silver/Blue. I do also sell a lot of Chart/Black/Chart. Another great color is Silver/FL Yellow/Blue is very good!

Once summer gets here I go to a 1/8 or 1/4 Oz Jig with a Hackle tail and some of the same colors still work, but I have just started also using an unpainted head or one painted gray and Gray body and Gray With a little Black in it hackle tail.

Fall especially if I can fish Hydrilla I will go right back to the Roadrunner!

Stained water also use a couple other colors that are really good...
FL Red/Green/FL Yellow and a FL Red/Black & Chart/Hot Orange is really good!

all of these are my own hand tied jigs, but these colors should work on any jig!

I like Southern Pro's 2" stinger shad on a 1/16" unpainted jig head, blue thunder with chartreuse tail seems to catch fish every trip. I've got a mold for something similar to it, I just need to stop everything else long enough to get the color recipe right and shoot some of them.
