See everybody thought i was a crazy liar for saying i lost a 17 incher earlier this year at smithville. They are in there. Anyway thats was big a$$ crappie and congrats to the person who caught.
Talked to one of the Clay Co. Park rangers today....... Apparently some lucky fisherman caught a 19" crappie at the Little Platte marina, fishing off the riprap. Said it weighed 3.5#, now I know there will be some skeptics out there so when I get the pics I will post them. As for my own fishing on Smithville, I can't seem to buy a keeper the last few weeks so what's a guy to do???? Keep fishing until the ducks start flying!!!
FISH ON......... inspired by river monsters around the globe.......

I have seen several 19 in. fish taken from smithville
It's not unusual to have a few really large crappie caught at Smithville each year. I've not been fortunate enough to catch a huge one, but did lose about an 18 incher at the boat one day.
