Longview Lake 10-10-12

Fished Longview yesterday 10-10-12. Shallow pattern Mouse Creek flats and trees above and close to the eagles nest 2-10 FOW = no crappie, but 3 bass (landed 2 smalls and the 3 pounder shook his head at me right at the boat and see-you-later it was gone...couldn't get the right hook set with my 4 lb line). Moved to find some brush put out by the MDC and was able to locate Longview Lake #4 pile (for those interested, go to the MDC Statewide Fish Attractors map for the location). I used the new MDC app on my phone (I don't have a GPS or a fancy fish finder) and it worked like the champ, put me right on top of the brush pile. Fish were anywhere from 14-22 FOW and were right on the brush pile at the bottom. I would either get a bite or lose my double jig rig on the brush pile . I'm sure I had to re-rig over a dozen times. Orange seemed to work the best but also had luck with chartreuse. Had plenty of action, ended up with 3 big, 3 medium and 1 dink, so not the greatest day ever but it was fun. Happy fishing!!
