    Talking fly fishing help

all right guys and gals i recently posted the "new fly rod" thread. i've pretty much decided on a rod and reel combo from bps its a 5wt now all i need to know are the basics like line, leaders, and some beginner must have flys. i guess what im asking for pretty much is a good begginers tackle box. any input or advice would be greatly appreciated

    thanks for all the help

I would start out with WF5F fly line. That stands for Weight Forward 5 Weight Floating.

Here is a chart fly sizes to Tippet sizes. I think this is mostly for some Orvis leaders, but it's almost standard for anything else I think. Notice.... Like anything else in life this is just a guide.
    Fly Size_____________________Test_______________Leader Or Tippet
    #4-#6______________________15.5___________________ 0X
    #4-#8______________________ 13.5___________________ 1X
    #4-#10_____________________ 11.5___________________ 2X
    #6-#12_____________________ 8.5____________________ 3X
    #6-#14_____________________ 6.0____________________ 4X
    #14-#20____________________ 4.75___________________ 5X
    #18-#26____________________ 3.5____________________ 6X
    #20-#28____________________ 2.5____________________ 7X
    #20-#28____________________ 1.75___________________ 8X

    I only use 2X, 3X, 4X and 5X tippet.
    On my 6 wt I use a 5X leader in a 9' length.

As far as flies for bream:

Then you will want a ton of other stuff too. You will want fly boxes and there are sevral makes and models. I have some NIB Okuma fly boxes with ripple foam in the bottom and clips in the lid I am getting rid of. Just not what I want in a fly box for myself. I will be getting Double Nubby Tack, Bug Luggage or Fox Box fly boxes from now on. A good vest, fanny pack or a chest pack is nice to have. Forceps, clippers on zingers, extra leaders, a tippet tote(I have one that is just a piece of bungee cord on a clip... works slick and it's the best one I have tried.), and there are lots more thing you will want.

Lots of options, just pick your stuff and go with it. You will end up buying more.... trust me. I even got into fly tying and now tie for a few shops and friends. It can get adictive fast. :D

    Josh,
dixieangler gives you some "right on" info.
Often we tandem a small minnow immi and a small dark wollybugger as a search weapon for either crappies or bream. Often it is the retrieve that makes the difference as to which you will catch.....with either fly.
