As of 2 years ago the Depthmaster series of reels was still being made by Okuma for the Cabelas label. The handles are crap and the drags are the same as on the Magda Pro's in that they will be adequate for the price point for crappie. I'd stay with the Okuma Magda Pro from Northwoods Outlet at $28.99 and save the $6 because you aren't really getting more for your money with the Depthmaster. If you want a higher end reel then look for one of the Daiwa Sealines or Shimano Tekota. Both are higher end bearing reels that are well regarded by the walleye community and have stood the test of time for around $100 each. I now use the Sealine 15's for my primary trolling reels and have 4 of the Okuma Magda Pro's that I started with that I have when pushing or running downlines. Can't go wrong-just shop around.
