    Default boat motor question

I had a plug foul this morning and I changed both plugs when I got home. I have the fitting to attatch a water hose to the motor and I need to start the motor to make sure I solved the problem. My question is, would the black area on the lower part of the motor be where I need to place the fitting? Thank you very much for your help

Yes and you don't need to open the water valve all the way. Just enough so the pressure doesn't move the muffs off the intake.
