    Default Making Jigheads Weedless

Does anybody here have any tips on how to make their favorite jigheads weedless. I have a particular head that I like to use but it is not available in a weedless version.

Bass pro has a small plastic weed guard that you can add to any jig. Comes in packs of 25 I think for less than 2 bucks. Called a stickguard pg 196 in the 2006 anglers ctalog. Item #28-535-287-00.

Hey Rod, I think I have some of the stickguards that you are talking about in my tackle box. I'll try them but what I really want to do is maybe drill a small hole in the jighead and glue a weedguard in place. I'm kinda thinking about a "V" shaped design but I'm open to any suggestions.

I saw a guy that used something like 50 lb test line and did just what you are talking about. You might try it.

I vote for stick guards ten times better in my opinion than fiber or wire weed guards. I figure the time I spend putting them on is about half of what I would spend getting unhooked. I use them with minnows on jig heads as well.

Bandit do you have a picture of the jig you use?
My good buddy Dave owns Hook Solutions and makes 40000 jig head a day he may have something that will work.
He is just a little North of you in Warsaw, MO.

Hey there Gonefishingee, These are the jigheads that I use. They are the 1/4 oz. "Bighead" jigs. They have a #4 hook.

I think I can pour #4's in my 1/4 oz weedless mold, never tried but let me check tomorrow night. I pour with the fiber guards, if there is to many or they are too stiff you can always cut a few out to make them better for ya.
