    Default Crankbait hook size question

I enjoy using the small crankbaits, like the Cabelas Mini Dig It, for crappie but I seem to have a problem keeping them hooked up.

I can get them about half way in or right up to the boat and then they seem to pop off. Not all, but a good percentage.

Would a larger, or smaller, treble hook help this? Or maybe I am doing something else wrong?

I'm using a light action rod with 6 lb test.

Thanks for the help, and also thanks to you all for the things I have picked up from you so far....great bunch of people here.

Hi Joe, I use Bandit crankbaits and I replace one of the factory hooks with a red #6 treble hook on either the front or back hook. I've heard that they say to do it on the front and others say to do the back. I just did some of each but right now my trolling experience is too limited to comment on which way is better.

Maybe some of the trollers on this website can give a little more info on changing hooks out.
