Default I Caught 48 Crappie Today

It was a beautiful morning, I got on the water at 6am and headed to my first tree top I wanted to fish. The winds
were calm and water temps were 83°. Water depth was 12' and I was fishing minnows on two poles, one set at 6'
and the other at 9'. I did well there but I moved to my 2nd spot to check on the size of the fish there. Well they
weren't interested in minnows but caught some nice ones on jigs. When they slowed down I returned to my first
spot and finished my day there. I came off the water at 9:30am and had 48 crappie.

    Cooler full.

Some getting ready to be cleaned.

54 Filets, the rest got scaled and gutted

It was a great day and I'll be able to feed a lot families.

A very nice mess of nice crappies.

I went out last evening to test a rough prototype of a dock jigging rod and took 30 in a bit less than 2hours, but mine were dinkos (pretty much all there is on that lake); so all went back. Those were near the bottom in from 12 to 20' of water (second and third breaks out from the weedline). Me and another guy found the yellow perch were starting to school up on the break above them at the outside of the weed bed, which is a pretty sure sign around here that fall patterns are kicking in. For me all the crappies came on 1/64 black jigs with 1" rat-tail shads, white best.

I think I would be quite willing to trade my batch with yours. )
