Throuh out some dry dog food to chum the minnows. The minnows will atract the crappie.
No.
I was told that Crappie can be drawn to certain areas by chumming or baiting holes. I was just curious if this is a common practice and if anyone can tell how and what to use as the bait. BTW I am currently fishing regularly at Camp Creek lake near College station Texas. Any of you ever fish there?
Thanks for any imput

Why work? Fish
I have never tried this but an old timer once told me that when he lived on the lake he used to put 25-30 lbs of dog food in a burlap sack and anchor it with his brush piles. Said that the dogfood would break down and slowly migrate out of the bag to continuosly feed the fry. I saw some of his catches and he usually did beter than most. He used to bait a lot of the docks just as soon as the water was warm enough to get in. Always under the cover of darkness!
Dog food will work but IMO it draws more catfish than crappie. I use cottonseed cake. Stuff it in some old pantyhose or a chum bag and weigh it down and try to put it out the day before you plan on fishing. You can find the cottonseed cake at most feed stores. Hope this helps.
