cool!!
I was talking to tenncrappie on pm and he was sharing with me a old school technique (Oh in case you haven't heard lanterns are old school ) he used to shade his lanterns and direct the light with aluminum foil which is something we did here out west too. so i mentioned how back in the day we started using aluminum cans. All you do is cut the top off bottom off and rt down the middle and your done! We would hang it from the globe but the new aluminum cans are so thin that it springs back original round shape on its own and you don't need the tabs, it holds it self to the globe. You can make the beam as wide as you want. I hope this helps someone.
cool!!
CRAPPIE fishing is not a sport, its a way of life!
aluminum foil i'll have to try that thanks
Good luck and good fishing
Yeah, Big Minnow ... I've done the old school stuff a time or two myself. When I was young & fished with my Grandparents, they had a two burner Coleman lantern. That was all we ever used to nightstalk Crappie ... just hung it over the side, midways of the boat. Aluminum foil was our original "deflector" ... but, years later they got a shield that was made for the lantern. I had that lantern handed down to me, and used it many a time back in my camping & nightstalking days. Used alum foil on a single burner that I used to have, as well. Never heard of the alum can trick, but I can see where it would work just as well.
... cp
