Ouch!
... to anyone willing to search the drop off at the base of the bluff on the south side of "Powerline Cove" (2 mi. below the free ramp on Smithville lake... Didn't get it all the way in the rod holder ... Something wanted the minnow and took everything just to get it. May have just been snagged but I like to imagine a giant flathead making off with it. Rod was no great loss but the reel cost $80... on sale.
Oh yeah... I'll narrow the search for you... It's in 12' of water.
Ouch!
Sorry to hear that, Mark!
Sounds like my kind of luck. I lost a brand new pole 2 years ago in 40' of water here in shelbyville lake in illinois. something took it right over the side of my boat.
Lets go soak a line. Pat
Well if woudve fell down Iwould go get it for you cuz i put tank on but since it didnt go straight your on your own sorry
I lost a new sam heaton on truman and about 15 minutes it came back under the boat and we got it.Had a big white bass still on it.True story!
Did you try putting on a big jigging spoon and casting around to try and hook the line? I had to do that with one of my rods and was lucky enough to hook onto it. Of course that huge fish that took mine only turned out to be a one pound channel cat.
I fished since I was 5 or 6 year old, I'm now 68. Never lost a rod in my life. Last summer while fishing with my son at High Rock Lake (North Carolina) I set my rod down for 1/2 a second and off it went flying past my ear. We were catching some nice cats just before that happened. Some catfish is swimmin' around with my gear. Hope he catches something!!
