In recognition of Public Lands Day, on September 28-29 the Corps of Engineers and the Kansas Dept. of Wildlife , Parks and Tourism will be conducting a fish habitat development project . Volunteers are needed to assist in constructing fish habitat in the 2-4 feet zone along Hillsdale Lake shoreline. The lake is low due to the drought and now is the ideal time to place brush along the shoreline so it is ready for spawning activity when the lake fills. Volunteers need to contact Park Ranger Jim Bell or Fisheries Biologist Andy Jansen. 913-783-4366. A fish fry will follow the completion of the project on Sept. 29 at the Hillsdale Lake Shelterhouse. If you have fish fillets in your freezer needing fried bring them to the fish fry. If we run out of fish we are sure we will not run out of fish fillets.
