First you need to start fishing some tournaments or become a well established guide. Im sure you do neither or you wouldnt be asking this questions. Sponsors wanna sponsor people who make thier product look good. If you dont have atleast a small reputation or resume to bring forward nobody will sponsor you. Fish some tournaments, place well, and maybe spmeone will thow ya some free stuff to fish with. If you looking to get PAID its next to impossible. Free product or a discount is what alot of folks settle for, including me.

Hey, welcome to the site! I'm going to go ahead and assume you're at least looking at fishing some tournaments. I know Illinois has a couple different clubs and CUSA generally makes a stop. You can either (a) bug different sponsors until they give you something to shut you up, or (b) fish hard, do well, and then bug a sponsor until they give you something. This is definitely not the sport to try and make a living from sponsor money, but you could very well get some of your goodies paid for.

Poles, line, hooks/jigs, baits are probably the cream of the crop. Getting any of these paid for will help you journey. Landing Ranger or Minn Kota would probably take a well put together resume.
