Caught a tagged crappie one year on the north side of the island at Fairfield in July. Sent the tag in and got a letter back that said it had been tagged that April at Berry Bend. Seems like a long way for a crappie to swim.
I know that they have tagged crappie so i was wondering how far crappie go from there spawning area? Do they stay in the same arm of the lake or will they move to other areas of the lake. I didn't know if they just follow the bait fish and that where they end up at. Does a crappie usually spawn in the same area year after year. Thanks.

I would guess from island to berry bend ramp is 4-6 miles.
