When my son was real young we caught a few small crappie there from the bank. They where very poor and thin looking. I would think over populated. May try it again when My kayak comes in I ordered from Dick's.
I finally got a chance to check if Brahan Spring Park in Huntsville had any Crappie today after work. I only spent a couple of hours fishing but caught about a dozen. The Lagoon has both white and black crappie, the smallest were only 4 or 5 inches but I caught one that was just over 15 inches. The small area that I fished was all about 4 to 5 feet deep and there was no cover.
I’ll have to try this area again when I have more time and a little less wind blowing my kayak around.

Ditch, I swear buddy, you could catch crappie in my bathtub...at least if your kayak would fit in there! Congrats on finding a new spot - but you KNOW this blows the "low fishing pressure" idea...that place has seen more hooks in it than all the tackle boxes in Alabama!

10% of the fisherman catch 90% of the fish.
Lucky for me the other 90% still left me a few.
