We catch some crappie in the spring on bass spinner baits. There are not too many, but they are always larger ones.

I caught a pile of crappie on a spring day a few years back. I was fishing below a dam for hybrids while they were generating. I was fishing with a sassy shad on a 1/4 oz head with a big bass type hook. Found the slabs stack in a small slack place in the current.they were thumping that bait and had No trouble inhaling it to their gills. But I've never went for crappie using that big of a bait,maybe I should try it again.
