    Default baited brush piles

I've sank cotton seed mill cake on points and ledges before and caught cats and shellcracker. Never tried hanging it in a tree top for crappie. Reckon they would come to it?

Only if it draws minnows to the tops. And even that would depend on what type of "minnows" your lake has. I really don't think the Crappie would be interested in feeding off the cake, so it would depend on what the cake does (molds, sours, swells/bursts, etc ??) as to what it would attract. And if it attracts catfish real good .... that might keep the Crappie away

I've heard of people submerging dog food in a piece of PVC around docks where it slowly leaks out. This is supposed to attract minnows. Heard bales of alfalfa is supposed to work but haven't tried either.

Use to use mill cakes for baiting catfish baskets but have never caught a crappie in a fish basket, just FYI.

Well I don't want to pollute my tops so I'll keep baiting points and ledges when I feel the need to tight line fish. Thanks for the input.

Baiting for crappie is illegal in arkansas, but I've heard alfalfa works really well.
