    Red face looking for info

ok so im new to this site and somewhat new to freshwater fishing. i have come across numerous pages from this site while looking up information from google and thought 'hey maybe i can get better information from here than google.' so here i am.

now what im looking for is mainly crappie fishing info. i have a few questions of course.

1- what would be the best jigs/lures be for summer time crappie?
i have some jigs i think will work but i want some opinions. i have one thats a white marabou lead head jig with a bright orange head, a black and purple jig(lead head) a brown, white and greed jig(lead head), a lure/spinner thing i have no clue what it is called but it has a spinner thing on it with a double hook and a minnow soft plastic. i have other jigs and whatnot but im not sure exactly what would work best. i have spoons as well along with regular hooks and numerous soft plastics.

2- best or most effective rig for crappie and other small fish like bass?
this confuses me. i have no clue what would be a decent rig to use for crappie.

3- live baits other than minnows?
i hear worms and leaches are good along with medium insects like grass hoppers or beetles.

im sure theres crappie ton more of questions i may end up wanting answered but that will come when i can think of it. me and my useless brain lol.

Welcome from Mississippi. Post your questions on the Main Crappie board and also over in the Texas forum and you should get lots of answers.

thanks retiredrr. ill have to dig through my tackle box and make a separate thing with the possible jigs i can use. another questions just came to be too. those barrel swivels with the snaps on them.....can i just attach one of those to a jig so i dont have to continually cut the line to switch lures/jigs/whatever?

Welcome, they normally like minnows. I like bright colors with spinners in deep water around channels or ledges. If you are on a boat you can try slow trolling. If on a bank you can try night fishing with lights. Its cheap if you have a friend or have a 12v battery already at hand. Hope it helps

Crappie will eat worms, ive caught them using just little earth worms before. They will eat anything they can see. They eat at any oppurtuniy. I know them bluegills would enjoy some big juicy worms, so would the crappie!

I knew the gills hit hard on worms but I'll Have to see about the crappie. I'm looking to gather up some nice sized bluegill or other sunfish and some crappie to fry up or whatever. I have done mostly salt water fishing and barely any freshwater so I'm a bit on the durr side when it comes to freahwaters.
