    Default Shimano Symetre 4000FJ

Dicks in my town had the Shimano Symetre 4000FJ marked down to $69.00 on sale so I bought one. It is a large spinning reel, larger than I normally get. The price drew me in more than need. Do any of you regularly use such a large spinning reel for crappie??

    Thanks!

You got a great reel at a great price, but it's too big for crappie, IMO. I have two of the Symetre 4000's. I use them as my "heavy duty" carp reels.

I was thinking of using it for stripers since I have a heavy action 6'6" spinning rod lying aroud without a reel. Maybe my best bet??? I couldn't pass up the price since I had that extra pole not being used.

That would be the perfect reel for striper fishing......

Heavy for crappie but not a waste of money - you can use it for the heavier fish!!!!!

Absolutely GREAT buy on a great reel! A bit on the large size for crappie, but this is the reel I use for about half my bass fishing. You won't regret having it.
