    Default Jon Boat autopilot continued..

I scope verified the MK autopilot signals one again. This is gonna work just fine.

Mounting the liquid compass and control box was a concern. I looked at several methods, but chose to improvise with a cut and paste approach. I cut the standoff bosses from the plastic cover and also cut out the switch/light tunnel.

I mounted then plastic welded these parts to the plastic box lid I had for the autopilot circuit. Using the lid makes it easier to mount the components. In other words, the box is now the cover. I covered the area around the welds with several coats of liquid tape to insure water tight integrity.

I reused the MK switch cover to provide switch access and water tightness.

Next, I checked to make sure everything would fit. So far, so good. Notice I use rubber bands as a helping hand. ha
I will probably have to drive 40 miles to find some right size non magnetic screws to finish mounting the compass and control board (one of the few drawbacks of rural living).

Picture of the motor servo that will control steering the motor on Brenda's Jon boat.

It will work. My concern is speed. I will run the engine idle down some and trim up the motor some to start. This Suzuki has a setting screw in the end of the tiller handle to tighten the throttle once I figure it out. The electronics is simple and functions well. I had it hooked up in the house on my desk.

So is this strictly an auto pilot, set direction with the tiller handle then hit the A/P button. Or can you steer it remotely with a co pilot set up?

I can use remote and also foot pedal to steer. I am not that far along yet, but I know it will work. I have verified all the signals.

The only problem I will have is that I don't know crap about trolling. Also, speed may bee an issue. I never checked speed at idle before starting the project. With all the help here on c.com, this shouldn't be to difficult to master.

No. But the throttle has a locking knob in the end of the handle that locks throttle in place.
