    Default Hot Crappie?


    Got these Crappie in 7-8' of water. Surface temp was 80 degrees. Got them on jigs & Lindy Tubes, Split Melon working the best. The 2 biggest were 12".     Were they on some kind of shelf or trench? Sounds kinda shallow to me too. Nice mess of fish !

    No, Mindog, they are right in the weeds. We trolled with electric motor at .8-.9 mph and tried to stay just on the weed line edge. Last night we moved out to 13' with the lights, slow bite...

    We've been seeing them in that shallow of water and shallower in Missouri too. Read some of the MO reports. Water is about the same and warmer. Weird.

    Glad you figured them out. Here in Arkansas shallow lakes it is not unusual to find them in half that depth of water in the heat of summer. I figure low oxygen and bait fish moving shallow is the reason for them being in that depth here.

    Most of the time in hot weather when fish are shallow it is in the upper part of main lake and not the creeks unless the creeks have a good flow of water moving in it. Is this the case for all of you that are catching them? that's the cast around my parts
