    Default Got some cranks today

Picked up some crankbaits today mainly Bandits 200 and 300 plus a couple of baby "N"'s. Don't know about colors so just got a selection. The 2 facing each other are called Mistake, one sides chartruse striped and the other red striped. Use to catch a lot of bass back in my bassing days on that lure. Do you guys that troll cranks use a snap? Next time I go crank trolling will be my 2nd time, need all the help I can find. Jeff did you ever write up your crankbait articule?

Hey Steve, I've almost got it ready to send to Ed - I've been going over
and over it, I'm not much of a writer. But bear with me, I'll get it!
The snaps, heck yeah. Makes life a whole lot easier. The ones that are
just made out of a piece of wire, folded around and over itself - duolock
I think is what its called. All our local Wally worlds have quit carrying them.
They still have some called a "speed clip", but I (and some other folks) have
had bad experiences with them coming loose and losing the lure.
Those look like some good colors, might pick up a hot pink one if you see it,

    Smile Crankbaits

While chartreuse is my #1 color and chrome #2, I have found black, just solid black to be a surprisingly great color for me, may be the area I fish(east Tennessee) but it will really kill them some days. Nothing fancy just some wally world cheap spray paint, let it dry a day or so. Black Bandit, Black Norman or best of all a black Cordell super spot. Works for me. possum1

Come on Jeff I need to read that . And then go on the guide trip. (Sorry was not going to tell everyone your a gulde now LOL) I think even with crank baits I could not win.
Would fish the tournaments. but they would not allow me to fish with my rig.

I don't know about using them with crank baits, but have any of you tried the No-Knot Fas-Snap? I use them with jigs and like them a lot so far. See Link!

Don't have the hot pink in 200 but I see they do in 300. 300 may run a little deep here on my lake, its pretty shallow. You guys use a plug knocker? Back in my bass days I always had a long 2 pc. pole of some kind with a twisted wire to hook on my line to run down to my hung up plug, of course that was always throwing at a stump etc., guess I need to make up something. Any other numbers to be recommended.

Ted, I have seen the ads for Stabor, but never looked at one in person -
that is the one where you don't even tie a knot, right?

Skip, I haven't tried those either - I started to pick some up the other night at a BassPro outlet, but put 'em back down when I saw the price.

Steve, yeah - got a couple of plug knockers, my favorite is an old one
that is a piece of pipe with lead in it, got some chains dangling off the
bottom of it. Let it down on heavy trotline cord. Only thing, the little
curly thing on the side you are supposed to put your line into, is about
impossible when you're by yourself and it's windy, trying to hold the boat
straight over the snag. So I put one of those little clips on it - looks like
something you'd use mountain climbing, but actually came off a key-ring.
Carabiner? Is that what you call it? Anyway, that works lots better.

pescatore... Are the ones a netcraft the same? I had seen them and bookmarked them not long ago, but from the pic it's hard to tell.

    J. White, I know how you feel about the price, I just bought one pack and then didn't try them for over a year for some reason. However since I tried them I have been very happy with the product. I have been using Power Pro with one of the little spring loaded clips and it's not that easy to get a jig off once it's on, but not like tying on a new jig either. A pair of needle nose pliers or big hemostats helps remove jig from the snap.
