    Question Wilhelm Report

Would appreciate any information on the Crappie Bite at Wilhelm and the lake conditions. I am planning a trip there on Monday, June 5.

    Thanks in advance!!

    fishman,
I was up Wednesday and it wasn't very good (for me at least). I have never seen the weeds as bad as they are this year. Usually the shoreline is a lot more open this time of year. I did fish deep, also, but didn't do much there either. I ended up catching about 10 crappie, a couple small bluegills, and a couple small perch. I did catch a 20" largemouth. I caught it on an ultralight pole with 4lb test line and crappie jig. It put up a good fight on that tackle. From what I am hearing the best fishing for crappie and nice gills is in the stumps area between I-79 and Shakelyville bridge. I haven't fish that area this year yet, but it seems to be better than the main lake area right now. If you go post your results. I am curious to see if they start biting any better. BTW-the majority of the ones I caught were still carrying eggs. Good Luck!
