I put a Kalin Curly Tail on an 1/8 oz. and just let it drag beside the boat the other day and picked up several nice crappie while slow trolling.
CATCH A BIG-UN
Alot of folks pull RR's behind their boat at a speed of @ 1 mph during the summer months. The can also be casted, counted down and retrieved with some luck as well. Fish 'em around edges of boat docks or any other areas that could be holding some fish.

They are fine search tools for crappie in summer. As has been said, slow troll or cast the drops with various count downs, until you find the depth they are in.

Their old saying is you can't fish it wrong as long as you fish it slow. I mostly long line troll them in spring and fall. They can be effective in shallow water even in 3 feet, but also in 20' of water when they are suspended in that water.
You can also cast and reel them especially in the spring fishing from the bank out.
You want them blades turning good in this heat powertroll them at .5 to .8 with a stroller type bait thats what some of these guys here in mississippi do and ive seen the results first hand
