    Default Need fish finder/depth advise

Help, I am looking to purchase a new unit for the bow of my boat, in need of expert advise on what would fit my needs. I currently have a Lowerance Elite 5 DSI at the console, and I mainly dip brush and will begin spider rigging for the first time this fall. I have thought about the Garmin 550c, but very unsure. I need some input, will need something that displays speed since spider rigging requires it. Any information or opinion is greatly appreciated, Thanks

I don't spider rig, but why would need speed to do it?

You don't really need a speed display to spiderrig. If your lines are at more than a slight angle, you are going too fast. It is however, very helpfull to have a gps map up front for following contours and finding marked structure. Cheapest route would be to get another mount/ antennae/ transducer for the console unit you have now. When you get to where you want to fish you could just unplug from the console and plug it in up front.

Agreed. Maybe if you push or pull cranks though.
