Default Where can I recycle/dispose old gas?

I'm about to start working on an old boat of mine that hasn't been used in a couple of years. It has about a 16 or 17 gallon gas tank and is fairly full. I'm going to siphon out the gas into a few 6 gallon containers to take somewhere to dispose of it. I know most automotive places accept used motor oil but I'm not sure where they accept premixed gasoline. Anyone know of businesses that do in North Alabama? Thanks.

Same thing happened to me years ago. Pep Boys and several boat service businesses told me they could remove the gas but I'd have to take containers to an approved disposal location and pay $1,200 for them to take it. After many phone calls I found a boat repair shop that removed the gas, cleaned the tank, and disposed of...all for $150. Solution is to get on the phone and call lots of businesses in your area. BTW I'm in Okla and Jimmy Houston's Marine Service was my solution. Good luck.

I would run it in my lawn mower or something, gas is to high now days, I had a car out here that sat for 3 years, I cranked it up a few months ago to move it and it ran fine. If it dont have water in it , I would run it out in something.

Set it out in a 5 gallon bucket. It will evaporate in 3-4 days.

I'd drain it into a can, put a little bottle of fuel conditioner in it and run in my lawnmower.

I agree with Blackhawk, run it through your lawn mower. If it has enough waterand/or oil to keep your mower from running It's simple to drain the fuel, clean the carb and you'r back working. Good luck!

Try your local Govt. or the White House.
