Default How many colors do I need?

With so many colors and combinations, how do you decide what to use for Crappie?

I usually stick to like 2 combinations, but there are kits with tons of colors. How many color combinations do I need to carry?

I'd be perfectly happy with nothing but solid white and solid chartreuse. If you can't catch fish on those two, take up golf.

3 Or 4 colors at the most. I got boxes full of colors, but only use 2 or 3 most of the time, they are my stand by colors.

    Hello Matt
Some good colors you should try if you have not already is blue/white or blue/chart, black/white or black/chart, solid chart, chart with glitter and white. Since you are in the north east part of the world these are colors I used to do good on in NJ when I lived up that way. If the water you fish is mostly clear or a little green these are great colors. - "Keep The Great Outdoors Great"

I have lots of colors, and carry assassins, Bobby garlands, and curl tails. All have their time and place, and it's usually when fishing is tough that I get into oddball colors. that's also when I stumble into something that works that I would never have guessed. Natural colors do the job most of the time, and what everyone else has posted also has merit. I just can't get by the thought that what I didn't have with me might have been what it took to do the job that day. I could probably get by on a shirt pocket box on most days, but I carry 4 of the medium Plano boxes, 3 as stated above and another full of lead heads I pour. I don't want when I go, and give some away when I'm there and hopefully help a newbie now and then.

I use electric chicken, pink pearl, blue thunder, white tube and popsicle most of the time. I did buy an assortment of other colors that I rarely use.

Personally I have about 5 or 6 that are my confidence baits and much has to do with water clarity, cloudy or sunny. The main thing is to believe in what you tie on!
