I wish they would stock it with some of those Mississippi hogs!
But, yes they do stock it.
Wife asked an interesting question about if they stocked Truman.
I had to say I doubted it, but really don't know about the fish management of that lake.
Anyone?
The best way to get to where you want to be in the future is to act like you are there TODAY.

Kevin Rogers-
I think they only add spoonbill, hybrids and walleye. I doubt if they need to stock any of the others.
KC is the wife starting to feel bad because you and her have been pulling so many nice fish out of Truman and depleting the Crappie population ? Rofl
I have not yet begun to procrastinate .....
I think the conservation dept. veiw on that is its a better value and more affective for them to build new habitat than it is to stock bass crappie

The only time the MDC re-stocks the big lakes, is when there isn't enough natural recruitment. Spoonbill is a popular gamefish with no spawning grounds. Stripers are hybrids, so must be stocked. Bass, crappie, catfish, bluegills are all native fishes and will have good years and bad. I know at Smithville there is some natural walleye spawning, but not enough for good sustainable numbers, so it is re-stocked occasionally. I agree with Seth that the MDC is focusing on building habitat. Habitat supports fry as well as shad. A good shad population equals bigger fish and better survivability for the crappie, bass, etc fry
