Happy Father's Day
This is a little early but we'll be gone this weekend and I wanted wish all you Dad's out there a Happy Father's Day. It's always bittersweet for me because I lost my Dad when I was 9. He taught me a lot in those 9 short years and influenced me more than I realized then. He's been gone 37 years and it still surprises me when Mom tells me how much like him I turned out to be. Mom got remarried when I was 14 and it took a while to get my head around having another Dad. Of course, being in midst of my teenage years didn't help, we're all stupid then. After Paul and I got married and moved back to Tennessee, we became much closer (and he liked Paul, too!) and we ended up doing pretty much everything together. When we really got into fishing he was right there with us. That was back in the days we thought we were bass fishermen and didn't fish for crappie much. We lost him in 1995 and I miss him so much. When the fish are biting good and we're having a big time, I'd give anything to have him sitting beside me with a pole in his hand.
I guess the good Lord was looking out for us when we met Cane Pole, Don G, Roybuoy (yes, I know you're not THAT old), and you too, BillBob. Y'all each have helped to fill some of that emptiness left behind.
Happy Father's Day
Okay, that's it, no more mushy stuff. Go catch some fish! Pickwick, here we come!
