Default G3 Sportsman Hook and Jig Combination Rig

I saw Scott using this simple hook and jig combination rig set up last week on the G3 Sportsman. To me the hook and jig ris basically is is like a drop shot rig fished under a slip float. The trick was in making the hook stand away from the line. This was done by using a palamar knot to tie on the hook and then running the tag end back through the eye before attaching the bottom jig. Simple in concept but if you saw the show, it was so deadly on the fish.

I use a "stand out" hook. I think it is make by strike king. It is designed for swim baits and bass fishing. Works great for me.

Look for "Octopus" hooks designed for drop-shot in #4. Also, look for the VMC's with the swivel built in to the hook eye. I rig them just like drop shot and works fantastic. If you put a minnow on top, a jig or grub below then a drop shot weight on a leader below, the minnow will provide ton's of action on the jig!

Wally Marshal sells this rig, his uses and stanout hook and one of his slab daddys as the bottom jig. I think he calls it the "Slab Stacker".

Ship That is how I rig up for years when I actually use minnows which is really only in Summer time and lots at night. My bigger fish usually come on the jig. I use either 1/8 or 1/4 Oz. jig so it's my weight and bait. Sometimes I tie it just like your showing and some times I may use a loop knot for the hook. I don't use a bobber at all though with this. fishing standing timber in wind you need the weight and help keep you feel.
