Default Anyone Use Shrink Tubing To Mount Reels

as some of you may know. slater's uses a type of shrink tubing to mount one of their small reels to a couple poles they sell.

has anyone used shrink tubing to mount a reel to a pole?

if so, where did you get the tubing?

    thanks

WW Granger will have what you need. I suggest that you put a wrap of nylon strapping tape on under the heat shrink. This works good on a Tennessee handle .

I have just put a couple of nylon tie wraps on to hold the reel then wrapped with electrical tape. Never had a problem.

The heat shrink is a great idea. It would be a slick installation.

I bought mine from Amazon. The prices were very reasonable, no tax and free shipping.

What initial or "before" diameter are you looking for?

I haven't used heat shrink tubing before but on my Tennessee handled rods the plastic bands holding the reel will tend to work loose in the winter time. I now use silicone tape wrapped around the back edges of the bands to keep them from slipping apart. After discovering this silicone tape I've found other good uses for using it where you don't have to deal with the adhesive remaining on things from using adhesive tapes.

IMHO this is some neat and handy stuff to have around.

Big truck shop and dealers,(Freightliner, Kenworth etc...) use a shrink tubing when they replace the terminal end on a battery cable. It's tough stuff and shrinks up real nice and tight. Never thought of using it to mount a reel, but great idea.
