Default Is there an advantage to the sickle hook in a jig?

Hey everyone, i'm thinking of ordering some 1/16oz unpainted jig heads. I made my own fluid bed a while back and have used it a little bit.

I like the red hook type jig heads and wondered if there is any advantage to the sickle hooks compared to the round hook jigs?

Also, i'm not sure what hook size i would want, so is there a picture somewhere that compares the different hook sizes in a completed jig head?

    Thanks. Jerry.

I guess i should have just did a search in the first place.

What i found was that the sickle hooks are sharper than regular hooks, and the wide gap makes for a better hookset to hold on to the fish. They are strong enough for the hookset but bend easier than regular hooks to make it easier to get out of hangups.

I know what i'm getting now, just need to decide on hook size.

I like the largest red sickle hook a particular size jig mold will take. For 1/16th most will take up to #2.

I have caught bunch up here in the 2 to 3lb range, but most will be from 9" to 13", if that helps at all in the decision.

I like the #4 hooks. I pour my own jighead and would like to use the sickle hooks but have not seen the mold for them where do you find them?
