    Default Horror story...

Fished Smithville Friday (18th). Stopped at Burtons for minnows and ice. Use the livewells as coolers. Opened the livewell to fill it with ice. Found a crappie (what was left of it) that had been in there for 10 days! EEEW!
Almost threw up in the parking lot. 15 gallons of fresh water (lugged bucket by bucket from Burtons) and a pint of Clorox (from the gas station next door) later, the town was safe. Ugh!

Caught only one barely legal crappie all morning. Beautiful day, though.

Been there, done that before.................and it does stink! I can remember it like it was yesterday (and it was probably 20 years ago) so I'm sure that you wont let that happen again.banghead Tough luck with the fishing. Hope the next trip is better.

Yuck!!! I had the same thing happen with my 5 gallon minnow bucket a month ago. I dumped a bunch of minnows after fishing all day. However I left the dip net in the bucket when I did. I did not know the net was full of minnows when I put the bucket back in the boat. A week later, I smelled something rotten in my shop. Looked high and low until i figured out it was coming from the minnow bucket.

I'll give you alittle advise after you put clorox bleach in the live well, before you go fishing next time but earleir the better wash out the livewell with dish soap REAL GOOD because the bleach wil kill the fish the next time you use the livewell for fish.

That's a good one. I've been lucky to find all my fish in the live well. However, I've found dead shad or minnows that the fish had spit out in the live well. They, too, can cause a stink. Best to check the live well good after draining.
