Default Monday night at Smithville Water and Fishing Cool

Water is up about a foot and some parts of the lake cooled to 65 to 68 degrees. The fishing must have cooled off a little too. A couple at the ramp offered me their minnows and said they did not catch one fish. That’s never a good sign.

Hit four spots and caught fish on all but one, one was just too dang windy. Caught about 18 keepers kept 12. The wife and kids had fun catching some shorts also. All caught Daves favorite way….chuckin and windin jigs main lake and camp branch arm. All fish caught between 5 and 10 fow and nothing on the banks.

Got to initiate the hat slab gave me at camp….IT FLOATS!!!! Thanks Slab

Sounds like a good time Keefer. The wife and kiddo look like they had a good time.Way to go.
There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.

Glad you and the family had a great time. From the pics, the water looks a lot clearer than Truman.

Forgot to mention only cleaned three females and the eggs were nice and solid and still dark yellow. The fishing should contine to stay good we will just have to hope the weather stays on our side.

Hope you're on the water soon Dave but you might need you rods and box....I posted them on Craigslist!Rofl

Looks like everyone had fun. You have Daves gear priced to sell for sure.

We went up last night as well and anticipated some very stained water after the deluge we had Sunday afternoon / night....especially up north. Surprisingly, the water was very clear everywhere we went. Fishing was very sporatic. We caught white females closer to the bank in the back of coves and black males. I think we cleaned about 15.....tried Bill's secret spot by the Crow's Creek boat ramp about dark and ended up with nuttin. Dang....I guess it's not a secret anymore!!!!
I believe in catch and release.....right into the grease!!!!!

How far north did you make it, up to the Mecca area? I'm thinking about trying up river myself, its good to know that the water isn't as muddy now as it was a couple of weeks ago
